Description |
The beaches and restaurants of Theoule Sur Mer are just a 5-minute drive along the spectacular coastal road. Cannes is just across the bay 20 minutes away, and the cities of Nice and Monaco just a little further. A little further along the coast the trendy fishing village and home of the stars, St Tropez. A couple of hundred yards from the apartment up the hill and looking across the bay to Cannes, is Pierre Cardin?s amazingly surreal home. Pop up and have a look. It has its own Open-Air Amphitheatre and Catwalk. During July and August when the local Theoule festival takes place, you can go to live jazz or rock concerts here in his grounds.
Behind the apartment is a network of mountain trails, through the Esterel Mountains. The surrounding area offers the best in walking, hiking, horse riding and mountain bike riding. A map of these trails can be got from the tourist office in Theoule. Between May and September there is always something going on, so pop in the Tourist Office and find out. Try a trip to France?s own Grand Canyon; the spectacular Grand Canyon du Verdon with its huge lake, and the French alps are just a 90 minute drive away.
The Cote D?azur or French Riviera is a region full of interest with its old inland villages and numerous coastal towns; Monte Carlo, Nice, Antibes, Cannes, Port Grimaud, Theoule sur le mer and St Tropez. Grasse (the perfume capital of the world), famous for the production of perfumes, is only a little way inland and provides an amazing spectacle when all the lavender fields are in bloom.
The Picasso museum is 20 kms away. Art lovers, Brian Sewell and anyone with a passing interest will appreciate Nice's museums. The Musee Matisse (Matisse Museum) and The Musee National Message Biblique Marc-Chagall (Marc Chagall Museum). The museums houses collections belonging to Henri Matisse and the Russian born artist Marc Chagall.
Opera buffs will want to plan a trip when Opera de Nice is offering one of its lavish productions, whilst golfers may want to tee it up at the oldest course on the Riviera, the Golf Bastide du Roi. |
