Snaking your way through the centre of Nepal and passing through some beautiful scenery, rafting on the Seti River provides a true wilderness adventure. Surrounded by forests & jungle, teeming with a multitude of colourful wildlife, the progressively more exciting rapids make a perfect introduction to white water rafting. Combined with safaris in the famous Chitwan National Park, and a tour of Kathmandu itself, this tour lets Nepal show off many of the highlights it has to offer.

You start your tour in Kathmandu, a city like no other in the world. Mazy streets conceal Hindu Temples and Buddhist Stupas along with a multitude of enticing shops and restaurants. You spend plenty of time exploring the city's many hidden delights before heading west with your thoughts firmly fixed on the rafting ahead.

Travelling through the heart of Nepal we pass through mountain and lowland scenery, and picturesque towns and villages before arriving at the put in point on the Seti River. The Seti is one of Nepal's most beautiful, and warmest rivers, and also one of its more gentle rafting opportunities, with plenty of easy but exciting Class II-III rapids.

After a few basic lessons in rafting techniques from your highly experienced guides you arrive at your first challenging rapids. You camp at night on soft white sandy beaches, enjoy a hearty meal and tell stories of your days adventures around a roaring camp fire. Eventually you reach your take out point and head on to the Chitwan National Park.

Once here, you take part in several activities all designed to enhance your knowledge of the natural environment within the park. You take a canoe ride down the Rapti River to view the wildlife, followed by a half-day jungle walk through the park. You also get to enter the border park areas on Elephant and by jeep to spot Rhino and other species prevalent inside the park boundaries. All this is followed up by a visit to a local Tharu village and an evening cultural program.

From Chitwan you head back overland to Kathmandu. The final day is free to do a short mountain flight to view Everest, wander around Kathmandu or to visit some of the other interesting sites in and around the Kathmandu Valley.

We offer extension options to the tour to do some more rafting on the Bhote Khosi river, or visit the Royal Bardia National Park in the west of Nepal.

You can join one of our small-group departures on this tour, or we can arrange the tour privately for your party, or use it as the base for a tailor-made tour.

If you would like to include a short trek with time rafting and visiting Chitwan National Park, then please check our Nepal Explorer tour.

Itinerary / Highlights

Day 1
When you arrive into Kathmandu, you will be met at the airport and then transferred to your hotel. Once you have settled in, you are free to explore the city at leisure.

Day 2
After a pre-tour brief this morning, we take you on a fully guided tour of the capital city. We visit the many Temples and Palaces within Durbar Square before heading out to Swayambunath - this incredible stupa sits on a hill overlooking Kathmandu. If you climb the many steps to the top, you have some incredible views over the city and out towards the surrounding Kathmandu Valley. After some browsing in the markets, this evening take the time to explore Kathmandu at night, sampling some of the many bars and restaurants.

Day 3
We make an early start this morning, leaving Kathmandu by road. Once out of Kathmandu Valley, we start to wind down through the mountains. The views all along are incredible, with snow capped peaks and small hillside villages dotted along the edge of the roaring Trisuli river. After a couple of hours drive we arrive in the village of Damauli & your put in point for the river Seti. Upon arrival, we inflate the rafts and spend the rest of the afternoon getting expert training in rafting techniques from our highly qualified guides. Tonight we camp by the river.

Day 4
As the rapids of the Seti river increase in difficulty as you go along, this is the perfect river to learn all about rafting. You will learn how to control the raft and how to respond to instructions from the shore. At night, we camp at the side of the river on a sandy beach and enjoy a hearty meal.

Day 5
You enjoy a big breakfast before starting on the final leg of the rafting trip to the outpoint at either Gaighat or Jugedi. From here, we take the minibus for the short journey to Chitwan National Park. Once at the park, you will be transferred by jeep to your lodge. Your lodge is located right inside the park, and once settled in, you are free to relax, unwind and enjoy your surroundings.

Day 6 & 7
We spend the next two full days exploring Chitwan National Park in search of, amongst others, tiger, rhino and wild elephant. We'll take a safari on the back of an elephant, a river ride by canoe, a jeep safari and a walking safari, and we'll also enjoy a village tour to see first hand the traditional day to day life of the locals.

Day 8
This morning we leave early for the drive back to Kathmandu. Once again, this incredible journey is accompanied by incredible views over the Himalayas, as you wind up through the mountains taking you back to the Kathmandu Valley. Back in Kathmandu, the rest of the day is free for you to enjoy the city at leisure.

Day 10
You have free time this morning to catch up on any last minute shopping before your transfer to the airport for your flight home.
